MADRID, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 21 people were injured after an explosion caused a partial building collapse in Madrid, capital of Spain, on Saturday afternoon, local authorities said.

The blast occurred at around 15:00 p.m. in a bar in southern Madrid, according to local television network TeleMadrid. Emergency services said that three of the injured were in serious condition.

Fire brigade units, along with ambulances and local and national police officers, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters worked to clear debris from the damaged building.

An investigation is underway, with initial reports pointing to a possible gas leak as the cause.
