Alex Palou of Spain regained the top spot in the IndyCar Series points standings with his second win of the season Sunday, taking the checkered flag at the Rev Group Grand Prix at Road of America in Elkhart, Wis.
Palou passed Josef Newgarden for the lead at the start of the penultimate lap and held onto it from there. He led just five of 55 laps at the 220.55-mile race.
Palou, the driver of the No. 10 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing, bested Colton Herta of Harding Steinbrenner Racing by 1.9106 seconds. Will Power, Scott Dixon and Romain Grosjean rounded out the top five.
Newgarden, who started in pole position, fell to 21st.
It marked Palou's second victory of the season after he captured the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama in the first week of the season.
The Spaniard entered the weekend one point behind Mexico's Pato O'Ward in the standings, meaning the victory vaulted Palou back into the lead. O'Ward finished ninth at Road of America.
