JIMENEZ, Misamis Occidental, Jan.17 (PIA) --Showcasing its success story and beauty, the municipal government of Jimenez in cooperation with the Association of Barangay Captains, Sangguniang Kabataan, and private and public schools in the municipality celebrated its 162nd Araw ng Jimenez on January 11at Sen. Jose F. Ozamiz Freedom Park.
The program started with a parade that was attended by the delegates from the 24 barangays, different national government agencies, civil society organizations, and employees.
In her message, Municipal Mayor Rosario Balais was very thankful to Jimeznons for the achievements of her six years of service.
"It has been our tradition to honor and extend gratitude to our Jimeznons, the pillars of the municipality, each time we mark another year. They are the ones who inspire us to continue serving and upholding the virtues of the municipality," Mayor Balais shared.
She said, "Each year is always an improvement of the previous and 2020 is expected to be another spectacle to behold."
Mayor Balais also expressed her sincerest gratitude to the collective efforts of all stakeholders for the effective delivery of services to the people whom she promised to serve.
"This 162nd celebration commemorates the hard work, dedication, and sincerity of the past and present public officials, and especially the people of Jimenez for supporting the efforts for the municipal government in sustaining peace and order by promoting unity within our culturally diverse community."
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Joselito Chiong reported the programs and projects that will be implemented this year.
He also mentioned the rehabilitation of the water system in Jimenez that will start this January.
"Unity is the primary force that drives our municipality in achieving sustainable peace and development. Our collective effort brings us closer together as a unit serving a purpose - to improve the quality of life for all," he said.
The town of Jimenez draws visitors and guests with its festivity highlighting the Filipino dance and culture-BAILAR Jimenez 2020 dances in history -- the Subanen dance, Philippine Rural Folk/Interpretative dance, Spanish Era dance, American/Japanese dance, and Modern/Millennial dance.
BAILAR is a Spanish root word for "dancing" and suits any type or concept of dancing, may it be folk dance, cheer dancing, interpretative and other genres.
